It is looking like the Conservatives are going to turn out the liberal Tory government in Canada. This will be be a significant change for Canadians, and quite possibly, for Canada - U.S. relations. The Washington Post reports that the anti-U.S. approach of the Liberals is turning voters off. Conservatives would likely still have to put together a coalition, with a majority of votes but not carrying over fifty percent. Final polling reported by The Globe and Mail shows the conservatives expected to win 37 percent of the vote, a substantial ten points above the Tory 27 percent. David Warren, an Ottawa columnist, suggests that his fellow citizens should get out and vote Conservative, even if they don't buy the entire package (sounds familiar!). Michelle Malkin has a good wrap-up and additional cites. Captains Quarters will live-blog the election tonight starting at 6pm.
