Tim Harford has his last installment of seasonal advice up at Marginal Revolution. I think I like the first item the best -- don't try to shop for next year's Christmas now. In addition to his reasons, psychologically one is shopping with all this people madly rushing to "get a deal" which tends to rub off and cause one to buy more than one needs or ought to. Plus, it is unpleasant, time-consuming and chaotic! Better to just relax and go to the movies the day after Christmas!
