New York Times and Leaks
It looks to me like the New York Times story based on leaks regarding the NSA eavesdropping program could very likely turn on them. Tom MacGuire at JustOneMinute reports that the Congress was fully aware of this program and was exercising oversight over it. Apparently they just weren't doing the job they now think they should have been doing. The Washington Post reports that the President came out swinging yesterday in defense of the information gathering techniques. Further, perhaps the Administration will decide to figure out the basis for the NYT story and obtain its own indictments (wouldn't that be fun). Even more amusing is the Washington Post's headline "Bush's Fumbles Spur New Talk of Oversight on Hill" -- perhaps the fumbles are occuring on Capitol Hill, not downtown, where our Congress seems more interesting in plumping up their lifestyles and bank accounts than exercising oversight?
