Robin McKie, Guardian UnLimited, has a very interesting article discussing several situations where historic "myths" about natural disasters have been verified, leading researchers to become more interested in following up these types of old stories and creating the new specialty of "geomythology." He talks about a tsunami that hit the Oregon coast three hundred years ago and the story of Noah. Worth a quick read.
